ngle is a professional actor and writer based in Perth, Western Australia. He most recently appeared as the Emperor in Amadeus (Perth Theatre Company), Waffles in Uncle Vanya and Frank in Educating Rita, (both for Black Swan Theatre Company). He has had more than thirty of his plays, musicals and films produced for theatre, radio and television.
Ingle won the Equity Guild award for best new play for his script of Taking Liberty about Australia's winning of the America's Cup yacht race in 1983. The Sydney Morning Herald described that famous yacht race as the most important event in Australia's history since winning the Second World War (the race, not the play).
Ingle also received an arts development grant from the W.A. Department for Culture and the Arts to write a new work about Saint Augustine tentatively titled The Saintly Ape. He also completed the first draft of a new play for Barking Gecko Theatre Company based on the Brother's Grimm story about the "four musicians of Bremen".
Ingle will be the Visiting Scholar at the John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library where he will be writing a new play about the relationship between John Curtin and Walter Murdoch tentatively titled Sundays with Walter. The play is slated for production by Deckchair Theatre Company in 2011.
In August Ingle will be playing the role of Sir Andrew Aguecheek in Black Swan Theatre Company's production of Twelfth Night. |
