The Getaway Bus started life as a short play with a three year season. Three times nominated for the Gold Swan Award for both acting and writing, winner of the 1999 Premier's Book Prize for theatre in Western Australia, Ingle Knight was commissioned by the WA Ministry of Culture to write a show unique to Perth. This is it.

The Getaway Bus, written for the 2001 Perth International Arts Festival was described by The Australian newspaper as having “a particular genius”. It toured to the Edinburgh Festival and toured nationwide in 2003 with ‘Playing Australia’.
